On the Cannon Curve, we are switching it up this month by having our first Curve series. On this series Captain Dave Adams, a retired U.S. Navy officer, joins Phil as he shares his extensive leadership journey and experiences. The series begins with Adams discussing his early career and the transformative leadership on the USS Santa Fe, where he and his team turned the submarine from the worst to the best-performing vessel. He then transitions to his role in Afghanistan, leading a Provincial Reconstruction Team to connect local governments with their communities and improve infrastructure, applying principles of empowerment and ownership. The conversation continues with Adams' post-Navy work, focusing on innovation in military technology, including the use of drones and artificial intelligence, and his efforts to establish the National Museum of the United States Navy. Throughout the series, Adams emphasizes the importance of giving control to the team, maintaining a purpose-driven approach, and applying discipline to innovation, offering valuable insights for leaders in any field.
