Good Monday morning, Cannon Nation and Happy New Year. You know, the start of the year isn't and should not be about making resolutions. It's about reflection and action. Where are you prepared? Where do you need to grow today? I want us to pause and check in on three pillars that actually shape your future, its safety, its security and itself. Now let's think for a moment if an emergency happened today? Would you know what to do? For example, in your offices? Do you know where the AED is located, if someone were to succumb to a heart attack? When was your last CPR refresher? You know preparedness isn't fear, it's confidence for you and those that you care about, think about your own self, be absolutely maniacal in managing your own physical health, and I mean physical health, dental health, eye health. This month I've got an eye exam and physical exam, dental exams happen every six months. We are our most valuable asset, our ability to be healthy and to thrive take care of it. A second thing to think in mind is the automobile that you use on a day to day basis, and beyond just getting the oil change, when was the last time you checked your brakes, the tires and other fluids? How about the home in which you live? When was the last time you did a safety audit at a minimum ensure that your fire extinguishers are up to date and your first aid kit is handy. Second part, let's think about financial resilience. And yes, I'm talking to you Mr. And Ms wealth manager, because we all know the old axiom that the cobblers kids sometimes have no shoes. Do you have an objective third party to help you validate that you're on track with your own wealth management plan. Are you ready for the little surprises that come up in life? Sometimes they're small, sometimes they're big. Are you still certain that your financial plan reflects your values and goals? Now, as a professional, we spend time day to day, week to week, month to month, guiding our clients towards clarity and confidence. You can use yourself as part of a framing of a conversation with your clients, as an example of going through your own periodic and objective reviews and then part number three, your own professional growth and balance. What habits are you using? Are you developing that feed your mind and calm your day? For example, one small shift that I've focused on in the last several months is to intentionally read at least 10 pages of a book every day. I learned last year that reading an actual book, a physical book, actually allows for much more reflection than simply watching videos and scrolling social media. And this is because as you read 10 pages and put the book down and you go away and you come back and you pick it up, that period of time in between allows for a little reflection and a more sustained understanding of what you're reading. I want you to consider your gratitude practices. I've talked before about the importance of being grateful for the gifts that we have in our life and for the people in our life, and I would encourage you, as I have before, to get in the habit of jotting three notes a week to individuals who are important to you, who have made meaningful contributions to your life, be it personally, be it professionally, be it socially, let them know how important they are to you. Bear in mind that wellness isn't just physical or financial. It's the mental space in which we thrive. We spend more time in our head than we literally do anyplace else, and the more adept we are into focusing on our mental space and the the gratitude and the reflection time that we have, the better we are. So your checkup. Up isn't about perfection. It's simply about awareness, your physical safety, your financial security, your personal balance. They're all part of the foundation that's necessary to make 2026 an incredible resilient and growth year. And start with just a question, start with a step and let it grow, pause, reflect and act. Resilience isn't built in a day. It's built in the choices that we make every day. Here's to a great 2026 if you've heard something today in this podcast that you think a colleague or a friend may need a boost, consider sharing this podcast with them.
