Top performers in every field surround themselves with those who inspire them, who seek to build them up, and who push them to reach beyond their current limits. I'm Phil Buchanan, Executive Chairman of Cannon Financial Institute. I designed Monday Morning Mojo to provide you with a weekly spark, a push, and motivational insight to live your best life.

Thanks for joining. Hello Cannon Nation, it is Phil here with episode 689 of Monday Morning Mojo. I grew up in a three-traffic light town in West Central Georgia. They actually, at one time, had a fourth traffic light, but it Uh, was broken, and evidently putting up a stop sign was the cheaper alternative.

Now, by the time I was a junior in high school, I had either dated every girl I wasn't kin to, or I had formed a very platonic relationship that neither of us wished to break. I was kind of stuck in a cycle, stuck in a rut. If you will. A pal of mine had a cousin in a larger town, not terribly far away, and she suggested my pal and I visit.

one weekend. Now, to this point in my young life, I had developed a very stable existence. I had my own routines. I had my own friends. It was, it was my bubble world. My pal and I did make our trek to his cousin's home a few weekends later, and late that afternoon we were told that there was going to be a party at a place near a river.

That sounded kind of cool. So that night, we made our way down a road named appropriately Nowhere Road. Now, I remember thinking, that's the strangest name for a road, and where in the world are we going? But that evening, I met several people who would go on to become friends for life. It wasn't anything special about the party.

It was outdoors. There was a bonfire. There was music. But, for me, And perhaps most importantly, there were great conversations with people who were new to me, as I was new to them. And there was a, a certain curiosity, a certain interest in learning and growing more. As I think back on it, there were those questions.

Do you know so and so? Or have you ever been to this place or to that place? And again, there was a certain energy that came with that. I remember thinking that night how great those people were. Down Nowhere Road. That story came to mind recently when one of the hosts of a podcast I listened to entitled The Midlife Pilot.

It's a podcast dedicated to flying, of course. And he ended the show with the following quote. And the quote goes, Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. And sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself. Now obviously that quote can carry very different meanings depending upon your point of view.

To me, it showcases and highlights the value of getting outside your familial everyday world and expanding your horizons. I also read it to mean that there is tremendous value in spending quiet time, far away from the cacophony, the noise of everyday life. So that you can have the ability to reflect on what's really important so that obviously you can prioritize Your most valuable asset and that is your time now I'm a very experienced traveler over four and a half million seat miles on Delta and a Lot on other airlines as well.

And so I tend to be fairly comfortable in various environments Now this isn't the case for many and I understand that Yet for me, it is in these strange and different environments that I often discover new insights, new perspectives, new friendships. Now, are the new places and the new people better than my normal places and my old friends?

Well, no, of course not. But what happens when I get to nowhere is that I grow. I learn, I expand my capacity. Now, I find not every situation to be great, but at least I learn more about perhaps what I don't like or what doesn't work. Daylight savings time has kicked in. Summer is just around the corner, so our opportunities to go and to do are going to be tremendously expanded.

I want to challenge each of you to go find your own nowhere road. Be it a new place or new people. And allow those times and those individuals to teach you something. Perhaps you'll learn something about yourself, or perhaps you'll just learn something about others. Regardless, when we do find ourselves in the middle of nowhere, we all benefit from the new perspectives we gain.

Enjoy the trip. Monday Morning Mojo is a production of Cannon Financial Institute. Executive producer of Monday Morning Mojo is Sarah Jones. Editing and mixing is done by Danny Brunner.
